While designing and building my "media gun" I strove for a graphic aesthetic that lends to the idea of "media" rather than just "gun". Each bullet is a news broadcaster of some sort, and the end result will be that each bullet leads to the same story on each news website. Thus a direct (and easy) comparison of news sources can be done, and one can get as many sides of the story as possible.
A few things I already want to change:
Bullets (more of them, clean up the design itself)
Drag and drop bullets
Animation sends viewer to said news site in a new window after gun goes off
Return to main menu upon choosing bullet and watching gun go off
noticed that some of the "white" lines are being read as "no path" making the background bleed through.
NOTE: currently having issues with the action script.
As you already your action script does not work, but the animation of the rotating gun is pretty smooth and nicely done. I wish the bullets did shot something out even if it was just a mock of a page or something simple like that it would help to see your idea better. Everything looks pretty flat maybe adding some gradients and some tones would help unless you want to stay with the simple flat vector look which still works pretty well on its own. When you talked about it in class i was thinking a revolver for some reason but the clip idea works pretty well.
ReplyDeletehaha.
ReplyDeletethe gun is great. I like the analog animation. it's almost creepy.
because it's vector, it doesn't carry the baggage of gun culture. it's much less distracting than a naturally rendered gun would be.
i assume this has shifted from a portfolio to a concept site. instead of shooting bullets of art, it shoots "media bullets"
of course, it would be nice if each bullet mapped to some scene specific to each media form (nytimes, bbc, etc), but as a simple concept movie, i think "being shot with media" is pretty compelling.
